SDPhA President Scout Forbes-Hurd has challenged every member to invite one colleague to join SDPhA. Think of someone who would benefit from staying connected, whose perspective would strengthen our association, or who may not realize membership is now separate from pharmacist license renewal.
New members and returning colleagues are welcome. And we’ve made it easy to ask.
Copy one of the templates below, add a sentence about why you’d value this person’s involvement, and send it from your own email account. A phone call or conversation works, too!
Template #1
Subject: A personal invitation to join SDPhA
Hi [First Name],
I wanted to reach out personally and invite you to join the South Dakota Pharmacists Association. I value your experience and perspective, and I’d love to have you involved.
You may already know this, but SDPhA membership is no longer included with pharmacist license renewal. Since July 2025, membership has required a separate enrollment.
I’m a member because I believe South Dakota pharmacy needs a strong, connected association. Our membership supports advocacy, education, timely pharmacy updates, and opportunities to connect with colleagues across the state.
[Add a personal sentence about why you’re inviting this person.]
I hope you’ll consider joining. You can find membership information and enroll here.
If you have questions, I’m happy to visit or connect you with Amanda at SDPhA.
Thanks for considering it!

Template #2
Subject: Would you consider joining SDPhA?
Hi [First Name],
SDPhA has challenged each of us to invite one colleague to join, and I thought of you!
[Add a personal sentence about why you’d like them involved.]
In case the change got lost in the shuffle, SDPhA membership is now separate from pharmacist license renewal, so you need to enroll directly with the association.
I’d love to have you join me in supporting our advocacy, education, and connections across South Dakota pharmacy.
Happy to visit if you have questions. Hope you’ll consider it!

Need a personal sentence? Choose one and make it your own:
For a respected colleague: “I’ve always valued your perspective, and I think you’d have a lot to contribute to the association.”
For someone in your practice setting: “I’d love to see more colleagues from [practice setting] involved so our experiences are part of the conversation.”
For a former member: “If you’ve been thinking about reconnecting with SDPhA, I hope you’ll consider coming back. We’d love to have you.”
For someone newer to the profession: “SDPhA is a great way to connect with colleagues beyond your workplace and have a voice in what comes next for our profession.”
Members who successfully recruit a new or returning member will receive:
A personal thank-you from the president.
Recognition in The Script and the South Dakota Pharmacist journal.
Recognition with fellow recruiters at our next convention.
One drawing entry per qualifying referral for complimentary registration to the following year’s convention.
Ask your colleague to let Amanda know you invited them, or contact Amanda yourself after they join. Referrals count once membership dues are paid.
